Deconné’s Phylosophy

Deconné…

Deconné is the phonetic transcription of the French word Déconne, which means to cross the line, make a bloomer, lose control, to play… and that is Cía Deconné. From our most imperfect self, to run the risk of making mistakes, to go beyond what we know and what we control, with the aim of discovering what is on the other side… always starting with theatrical playfulness.

We base our work in four founding principles: essence, complicity, playing and stage pleasure.

In our creative process not only are we open to the unexpected and the unforeseen, we actually provoke it and pursue it with the intention of leaving the grounds of the expected.

We risk ourselves to make the beauty of human splendour and magic bloom while in a state of vulnerability, free from predetermined shapes and acquired skills. The actor in their essence, and from there… let’s play.

Cía Deconné is grounded in the firm belief in the transforming power of performing arts in society, putting up on stage people with and without disabilities for them to be listened to by the audience.

In our present moment, more than ever before, it is necessary to become aware of our diversity and the plurality of our society. Knowing the reality of others widens our world, and helps us realise that, paradoxically enough, despite our own peculiarities, we are not that different.

Someone said that art exists because sometimes life is not enough. From the boards of the stage we intend to keep showing other perspectives, exposing them with honesty and authenticity, with the intention of provoking an encounter with the audience, from the unique reality of each and every one of us, to make us dream and awake our most perfect, abstract and sublime side.
